A little about Gabrielle...

How my lifepath led me to you

Welcome

If your emotions feel out of step with the life you’re building, how about we trace the signal underneath and adjust it gently and precisely together?

I’m Gabrielle Deng.

I’m a Licensed Counselor in mainland China and an MSSW student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I’m honored to be completing my clinical internship at LifePaths Therapy. Prior to coming to the U.S., I worked as a university counselor starting in 2013 and opened my private practice in 2017. Since 2016, I’ve pursued extended training in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy and meet regularly with senior U.S. psychoanalysts and psychiatrists for ongoing clinical supervision.

How I work

My style is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I hold this truth in therapy: “The slower you go, the faster you get there.” Rather than only easing symptoms, we’ll explore the patterns in your thoughts, feelings, history, and relationships that keep difficulties in place. As insight grows, you’ll know how to translate it into practical steps in everyday life. Your goals guide the process—I tailor pace, focus, and methods to fit you.

A good fit if you’re:

·repeating the same conflicts and have tried hard yet still feel stuck or helpless

·curious about yourself and ready for meaningful, durable change through a long-term professional relationship

What to expect

·First meetings: we clarify what hurts, what you want, and how we’ll work as a therapeutic alliance

·Ongoing sessions: thoughtful conversations that connect today’s struggles with deeper themes

·Tone: respectful, honest, and steady. I’ll listen closely and offer timely interventions.

·Language: available in English and Mandarin Chinese.

Areas of focus

·Early relational trauma in one’s family of origin and its impact on development

·Emotional turmoil such as loss, shame, anxiety, fear, depression, and feelings of emptiness

·Persistent somatic symptoms without a clear medical diagnosis and not effectively relieved by medication

·Out-patient psychotherapy during the recovery phase of certain psychiatric conditions

·Interpersonal and intimate relationship difficulties

·Cross-cultural adjustment

Let’s begin with a gentle, no-pressure intake and see what opens up for you. Thank you!
