A little about Shelby...
How my lifepath led me to you
I'm so happy to be here with you, ready to embark on a transformative journey towards personal growth and well-being.
My name is Shelby, and I hold a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi, which I earned in 2019.
I have obtained my Master's of Social Work degree from Fordham University, and currently licensed with the State of TN as a LMSW. I work under the supervision of Stephanie Viars, LCSW.
With a genuine passion for helping others, I have spent the past several years specializing in in-home comprehensive child and family treatment, treatment foster care, and health care case management.
Currently, I am completing my graduate level clinical internship at The Middle Path, where I co-facilitate an DBT-based Intensive Outpatient Therapy group.
These experiences have allowed me to witness the incredible resilience and strength that families and individuals possess, even in the face of many challenges.
My approach to therapy is warm, empathetic, and rooted in evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies.
In March 2023, I gained my certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I approach each person with a holistic Person-in-Environment understanding.

I believe in creating a safe and nurturing space where individuals and families can explore their unique stories and find healing. I enjoy utilizing creative approaches to healing such as incorporating art and narrative therapy interventions when appropriate.

Throughout our sessions, I will draw upon my clinical strengths to provide you with personalized strategies that promote growth, resilience, and positive change.
We will work collaboratively, building a strong therapeutic alliance based on trust, respect, and open communication.
